Arbanasi Village
The village of Arbanasi is located 4 km northeast of Veliko Tarnovo. Arbanasi is a settlement famous for its monumental houses and churches with rich interior decoration, carvings and wall paintings, built between the XVI-XVIII centuries. The name of the village originates from the fact that at the beginning of the Ottoman rule Bulgarians settled here. They were refugees from the western parts of the Bulgarian ethnic territory, known as the Arbanasi land (nowadays southern and central Albania) and were called the Arbanasi people.
