Kolyu Ficheto's Bridge over the Yantra River, Byala Town

Belenski bridge is situated in the northeastern part of the town of Byala, Rousse municipality. It was built over the Yantra river btween 1865-1867 year. The builder Kolyu Ficheto embarked on building the bridge for the sum of 700000 groshes, sacrificing his live and honour. Firstly he made an architectural model of wax in order to calculate the money needed for the building of the bridge. This is the only building site where the builder has made a model. The fundamental pillars are decorated with sculptures as symbols: a griffon, a lion, a nymph, a swan.
