"Peristera" Fortress, Peshtera Town

The hill were the fortress is situated is called "Sveta Petka". The name comes from Greek and means a pigeon. Peristera fortress takes the whole area of the hill and has a clearly defined citadel, inner town and outskirts on an area of about 15 decars. According to the archaeologists the fortress dates back to IV c. AD and existed till VII c. included. After the excavations the fortress is restored.
