Perperikon
Perperikon is an archeological complex located 15 km from the town of Kardzhali. The rock town rises at an altitude of 470 m. It was inhabited 8,000 years ago, during the Stone Age. It has been inhabited over the years by Thracians, Romans, Byzantines and Bulgarians. Destroyed by the Turks in the 14th century. Perperikon is one of the oldest monuments, completely cut into the rocks. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria. There is a well-maintained asphalt road. There is a large car park.
