Pliska National Historical Archaeological Reserve
The remains of the first Bulgarian capital are located 2 km away from the modern town of Pliska. Pliska was the capital of the First Bulgarian State from 681 to 893. Today you can see the Eastern Gate, which was the main entrance to the fortress. This is also the main entrance to the reserve. About 1.5 km from it is the Big Basilica.
