"Pokrov Bogorodichen" Monastery, Samokov Town
"Pokrov Bogorodichen" Monastery is founded by Granny Fota, who donates her house to the Rila Monastery and starts leaving in Samokov. A legend says that Holy Mother spread her cloak over the town and thus she saved it from destruction. That's the reason why the monastery is called "Pokrov Bogorodichen" (the virgin cover) and it celebrates its patron saint on 1st October. Today you can see the so called cells which are in fact small houses in a row. The stone church built by the nuns is in the middle.
