Roman villa - Kasnakovo village
The Roman villa in the village of Kasnakovo, Haskovo region, is an important archaeological site that offers valuable insight into the life of the Romans in the region. The villa was discovered in 1960 and is one of the largest and well-preserved Roman villas in Bulgaria. The villa was built in the second half of the 1st century AD. It was inhabited until the end of the 3rd century. The complex includes a residential building, outbuildings, a bathroom and a heating system. The residential building was luxuriously decorated with mosaics, frescoes and marble decorations. One of the villa's most striking features is its large swimming pool, which collects water from an aqueduct and distributes it around the complex through an elaborate system of canals and fountains. In addition to the living quarters, the villa has a large bathroom, which is one of the largest found in Bulgaria. The bathroom includes various facilities such as a changing room, cold pool, warm pool and hot pool. The villa also reveals information about the agricultural activities. Numerous agricultural tools and pottery were found. The Roman villa in the village of Kasnakovo was declared a national monument in 1968. The site offers a unique opportunity to study the daily life, culture and economy of the Roman province of Thrace.
