Saint Anastasia Island
The only inhabited island along the Black Sea called Saint Anastasiya is to be found in the bay of Burgas. The island has been formed as a result of the eruption of a volcano. Between 1945 and 1996 the island is called Bolshevik. It is situated at 6.5km. southeast of Burgas between Saint Anastasiya cape and Atiya cape. The area of the island is about 22000 sq. m. During the Middle Ages a monastery was built on the island and was use as a prison during the XIX century.
