Shiroka Laka Village

The village of Shiroka laka is located in a mountainous region 23 km. away from Smolyan. Its altitude is 1058 m. The village is famous for its authentic Rhodope houses as well as folklore. Some of the most well known singers and bagpipers of the Rhodope folklore were born here. The national school for folklore arts was opened in 1972. In the area of Shiroka laka the rock formations "Momata" and "Glavata" as well as the chapels "Saint Teodor Stratilat", "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and "St. Atanas" can be seen.
The village is among the 100 national tourist destinations in Bulgaria.
