"Shishamnova banya", Veliko Tarnovo

The Shishman Bath, also known as the Bath of Tsar Ivan Shishman, is a historic Ottoman bath in Veliko Tarnovo. It is located near the "Holy Forty Martyrs" Church.
The bath was built in the 15th century during the reign of Tsar Ivan Shishman. It is believed to be the last public bath built before the fall of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The bath was named after the king because it was opened during his reign.
The building is a typical representative of the classical Ottoman bath, known as the "hamam". It consists of three main rooms: a dressing room, warm rooms and cold rooms. The warm room has a large marble slab on the floor, called a tepidarium, where hot water mixes with cold to create steam. The cold room has a marble basin called a caldarium where visitors can swim or just sit and cool off.
The Shishman Bath has been restored and is open to visitors. It now functions as a museum showing traditional bathing practices in the Ottoman era. The bath is an important part of the cultural heritage of Veliko Tarnovo and is a popular destination for tourists visiting the city.
