"Tsar Asen" copper mine

"Tsar Asen" copper mine

Tsar Asen mine is located near the village of Tsar Asen. If you travel from Sofia using Trakia highway, you can turn right before the village of Levski. After that the road is bad and you should drive carefully. Tsar Asen mine has not been open for many years. Non-ferrous metals were produced there once. It is turned now into a large crater with stagnant water. The water in it has a very beautiful blue-green color.
